Online Improv Sure Is Neat!
Flat Improv - Online improv classes, jams, livestreams

Hello improv friends!

Online improv is great. Disagree? Fight me. Cause online improv is good stuff. If you don't agree, you are unfortunately wrong.

You can now submit your improv stuff to the FlatImprov.com website. Neat. I said I would, and I did? Wow. More info below.

Improv Podcasts

Guess what. I'm still making Dining Room Chairs Event podcast episodes. Because when I find a really weird bit I don't/won't quit. Aw poop, that rhymed.

I was recently a guest on this really fun improv ep from the Jock Doc Podcast. You can listen to it here (or find/subscribe it on your preferred podcast grabber thingie).

Oh yeah, scroll down to the Twitch section for a "kinda something podcast adjacent thing about cheese" stream that you can watch for another few days.

Free Upcoming Jams

Fun times. Did you know that last week we hung out after the Weegis jam for a couple hours AND JUST CHATTED? Is it possible? Should it happen again? Should this also happen after the QCC jam on the 17th? Should we do games sometimes? Reply and let me know what you think about this potentially revolutionary concept.

Remember to support the schools/orgs who host any free jams you attend by going to the odd class at the school or with the host. Supporting their work keeps the jams going and/or free!

Upcoming Weegis Classes

A bunch of new classes were announced at WGIS (world's niftiest improv school) a few weeks ago, then went online. Since then, more classes have been added!  Below are the classes that have open spots. You can also go to the website and get yourself added to waitlists for other classes.

Multi-class Workshops:

Date noted is first class of series. There are more classes online with waitlists.

One Day Workshops:

My class above will go over some new character exercises designed to really help you let go and commit in a scene. Stuff we can't do in a jam. Want to give it a try? Let's do it. We'll do lots of characters with good strong POVs and details you can use in scenework.

August Improv Nerd Chat

Reminder that this month’s online Improv Nerd Chat is Saturday, August 26 at 9am PT (12pm ET)! The chat will be led by Head Nerds Dave Theune and Casey Feigh, veteran improv performers and teachers. Bring yourselves and also your improv questions to the nerd chat.

Free Online Shows

What on earth happened August 11, 2023 on Twitch? COMPLETELY UNAUTHORIZED TWITCH TAKEOVER by three improvisers who were supposed to do improv but didn't... happened. Yeah. You can go watch it if you really want and maybe have some level of interest in cheese (including cheeze. I'm vegan, so we talked about that too).

I'm dramatically overselling this, btw.

So go watch these shows, my friends, they are fun. And we are looking for YOUR suggestions. Control the show (or banter, whichever one ends up happening).

Other Online Improv Livestreams:

Have an online show or livestream you want on this list in the next newsletter? (Free or not free). Or maybe an improv podcast we should hear? Submit that ish.
